Dear Dad we’re going to miss you, your charm, your subtle wit
I hope our happy memories will ease the pain a bit
As children you were always there to teach us wrong from right
We learnt to think of others, be respectful and polite
Honesty and fair play were all values you held dear
You brought out the best in others with your good natured cheer
On country walks you taught us to love wildlife and the birds
You showed us there is beauty to be found in written words
You inspired us to go travelling, to see the world out there
But we always knew you loved us, always felt your loving care.
Dad your were amazing, so supportive, fun and kind
You’ll be deeply missed by everyone that you have left behind
What we'd all give for one more hug, hear one more silly pun
From a rare and special gentleman with a canny sense of fun
Goodbye dear Dad we love you and although we’re feeling sad
We know that we were truly blessed to have you as our Dad
